Don't Allow Your Child To Be A Couch Potatoe

It deeply saddens me when I hear about the health condition of our children in this wonderful country of America. Nowdays, children are becoming more and more unhealthy and overweight at a faster rate than ever before in history. Often times we want to blame the media, advertisers, video games, television, computer or whatever else comes to mind.

The truth is everything that I mentioned is nothing more than a excuse. Our children are doing nothing more than becoming lazy and less active. It is up to the parents to teach their children the importance of exercise. We need to take responsibility and teach through example of how to maintain a healthy exercise regimin. Children will only do what you allow for them to do. If you do not allow them to be lazy then they will not be lazy. It is not to say that some will not be more active than others, but it is saying that you can't enable them to do nothing at all.

Find ways in which your child can express themselves through activity. It may take awhile and a few different tries, but in the end it will be worth it. Don't set your child up for failure. There have been studies that show that our activity level as children is often our activity level as adults. Give your child the opportunity to start young taking care of themselves so when they get older, it will not be foreign to them. Stop raising couch potatoes and get them involved in exercise.
